Donald Woods

About

I graduated from the University of Akron in 1979 with a degree in Fine Arts. Like most art majors, I took a traditional job and painted whenever I could. After spending almost twenty years working in business, I felt that I had to do something different in my life. In 2002, I returned to college and earned a Masters Degree in Art Education.

I spent the next ten years teaching high school art and working on my own paintings during my summer vacations. Unfortunately, in 2013 , I, and most of the art teachers in the district I worked for, were laid off due to the financial woes of the school system. Realizing I may never get my job back, I decided to pursue a lifelong dream of mine to become a full-time artist.

Since that time I have participated in many art shows and art fairs. I also have had a number of solo shows of my paintings. My artwork can be found in many private and corporate collections , including the Cleveland Metro Health System. I continue to actively seek opportunities to exhibit and market my work. I also teach art part-time at several Catholic elementary schools.

My Wife and I have three grown children and two grandchildren. Our faith is very important to us, and we are very involved in our local parish, where I play the violin at all the Masses. We live in Brunswick, Ohio, about twenty miles southwest of Cleveland.
